Ever have people fill out your forms in ALL CAPS? Or in all lowercase? Happens a lot.
If someone types their first name in, for example, as “JONATHAN” or “jonathan,” or even “JonAthaN,” well, then anytime you use the standard first name merge field in your emails, they’ll always see their name just as they input it when first they filled out the form.
As “JONATHAN,” “jonathan,” “JonAthaN”.
Not a good look.
What looks better is straight up “Jonathan.”
Well, today I want to share with you a special, little-known version of the First Name merge field that will allow you to always have your contacts’ first names show up with the proper case.
It’s super simple, but very few folks know about it.
Just use [First Name ##cap_lower].
Give it a try! And keep it handy so that you can copy/paste it into your emails and subject lines for better, cleaner lookin’ emails (and SMS’s, etc.) as it’s not available in the dropdown list of merge fields (which is what makes it so little-known!).
